Election Time Is Here!

Your board members have been working tirelessly for the past 4 years to connect to alums in the state, welcome a new collegiate chapter, establish an ongoing tradition of Founder's Day celebrations,  participating in The Arthritis Foundation's "Jingle Bell Run," fundraising, and more!  The primary emphasis of our alum group to this point has been to provide support for the opening of the Alpha Rho Chapter at OSU in Corvallis.  It is time to shift our attention to the primary function of... you guessed it... US!  After 4 years of learning the ropes of how an alum chapter works, we all have a few goals we think are important to a successful alum group. We hope you'll consider being a part of this vision and will assist in the alum leadership as we move forward!

Listed below for your information and consideration, are the primary responsibilities of the 4 elected board positions:

The office of PRESIDENT of the Portland Alumnae Chapter involves 4 comprehensive board meetings to plan for collegiate and alum events for the year; periodic email communication with board members; communications with members and Headquarters; oversee publishing yearly newsletters; complete yearly membership reports to Headquarters; and advocate for the chapter. This is a 2 year commitment.

The office of VICE PRESIDENT of the Portland Alumnae Chapter involves 4 comprehensive board meetings to plan for collegiate and alum events for the year; periodic email communication with board members; standing in for the President in her absence; chairing either the PROGRAMMING CHAIR/SOCIAL CHAIR or MEMBERSHIP CHAIR; and advocate for the chapter. This is a 1 year commitment.

The office of SECRETARY of the Portland Alumnae Chapter involves 4 comprehensive board meetings to plan for collegiate and alum events for the year; periodic email communication with board members; compiling and publishing a yearly newsletter; completing yearly updates to To Dragma; record minutes at board meetings; work with the MEMBERSHIP CHAIR to compile a membership directory; and advocate for the chapter. This is a 1 year commitment.

The office of TREASURER of the Portland Alumnae Chapter involves 4 comprehensive meetings to plan for collegiate and alum events for the year; periodic email communications with board members; collection & deposit of dues; work with the board to create a yearly budget; prepare quarterly financial statements and share statements with the board & membership; collection of funds at fundraising events; and advocate for the chapter. This is a 2 year commitment.

Alpha Rho's 1st Formal Recruitment!

Wishing the amazing ladies of Alpha Rho the very best as they begin recruitment!  They've invested time & effort into "Work Week" and now the fruits of their diligence will pay off!  The Portland Alumnae Chapter delivered bundles and boxes of snacks to the house to help offset the Alpha Rho's hard work.  We also had pizza and soda delivered for the girls during the middle of their work week.

We're thinking about you and looking forward to the results on BID DAY on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014!  Way to go ladies!
