Alpha Rho Initiation and Re-installation, March 2, 2014

What an amazing event at Alpha Rho's initiation and re-installation on Sunday, March 2, 2014!  We had over 30 alums present and initiated 63 wonderful young ladies!  We even had a special guest of honor, Joan Gathercoal, who is a Corvallis alum.  Joan came with her sister Judy Uychtil. Joan and her twin sister, Jean (now deceased),  hosted many a collegiate class to her home...I specifically remember a senior tea at their lovely home on Chintimini Drive.  Joan's mother, Ruth Baines, was one of two chapter advisors during the 1970's.  Joan spoke to our newest initiates and told them that the dress she was wearing was the dress she wore to her own initiation!  We all were in awe!

Here is Gayle Fitzpatrick with Joan and her lovely white dress!

The new initiates and Chapter Advisors!

Our infamous Karin (as in Karin's song) and Alpha Rho alums!

All Alpha Rho initiates and alums!

And if this delightful ceremony and celebration wasn't enough for one day, we also learned that AOII will be renting a 5 bedroom, 5 bath house under construction for  the newest Alpha Rho's beginning Fall 2014!

This house will provide opportunity for the officers to "live-in" as well as have their own chapter room and a general place to "hang out!"  How fun this will be to make their own!

If you have pictures from the ceremonies and/or the reception, please email them to 4mccrackens@comcast.net so I can post them here!

And now, ladies, let's all mark our calendars for our next Alpha Rho big event:  FOUNDER'S DAY, SATURDAY, MAY 10, 2014 at the CH2M Hill Alumna Center in Corvallis!  We look forward to getting to know our newest Alpha Rho's and visiting with Alums!  Start planning for your silent auction item today!

Here is a sample of items from last year's Silent Auction, which
profited over $1200 for the Portland Alumnae Chapter!  More details to follow!

Reinstallation!

Plan to join us this Sunday, March 2, 2014, as new members become initiated and Alpha Rho is re-stalled as a chapter at Oregon State University!

Several ladies will be meeting at the Tualatin Park & Ride on Sunday morning at 6:45am!

We'll need to be at the CH2M Hill Alumnae Center at 8:30am to practice the ceremonies.  Afterwards, at 3pm, there will be a reception honoring the new initiates as well as the newly installed chapter!

The AOII International President, Allison Allgiers, will be initiating our new members.  Gayle Fitzpatrick, our own classmate at Alpha Rho, will be performing the reinstallation ceremony.

This is the day many of us have been waiting for so please plan to join us for this momentous event!

Nine of us met at the World Trade Center in downtown Portland to walk in the Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis.  With stocking hats adorned (to keep us warm) we ventured our for the 5 K event.  We were pleased with the showing of 9 AOII's and are excited with the prospect of the number growing for next year's walk!
